Reigning Spanish and European champions Barcelona have assigned number 7 to Manchester United target Pedro Rodriguez for the 2015/16 season.

Pedro wore the same number last season and will continue to wear it for the forthcoming campaign, the Catalan giants have confirmed.

He has been linked with a move to several European giants this summer, including reigning English champions Chelsea, Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool as well as French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Manchester United have emerged as leading candidates to land the long-serving Barcelona forward, although Blaugrana manager Luis Enrique has voiced his intention to keep the Canarian at the Camp Nou.

New arrival Arda Turan, who would most likely be given the number 7 shirt if Pedro departs, has not been assigned any number as yet. And the same is true of the Blaugrana’s second summer signing Aleix Vidal as the duo will not be featuring for the first team until January.
