Liverpool new boy Nathaniel Clyne is aiming for a long spell at Anfield, saying that at his age he has a chance to establish himself in the Reds’ set-up for many years to come.

Clyne has landed from Southampton after enjoying a stellar campaign with the Saints last season, when he made 41 appearances across the Premier League, the FA Cup and the League Cup and notched three goals in the process.

His performances at St. Mary’s in his three years at the club – since his arrival from Crystal Palace – earned him numerous admirers and he was linked with a move to reigning Premier League champions Chelsea as well as Manchester United before signing for Liverpool.

And the England international is eager to establish himself at Anfield and serve the Merseyside giants for many years to come.

“At 24 there is an opportunity for me to be part of the set-up here for a good part of my career”, he told the Liverpool FC magazine.

“That's definitely the aim – I'm here for the long-term.

“I'm looking to nail a spot down at Liverpool as soon as possible, but I still have a number of things I can improve on that will hopefully make me a better player than I am now.”

Liverpool ended last season in sixth place in the league standings and missed out on a spot in the Champions League. They will be eager for a top four finish next season.
