Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli, who has also been the subject of interest from Arsenal, is close to completing a move to AC Milan, according to Sky Italia.

AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani and Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini met in Forte dei Marmi and were joined by the defender’s agent during the meeting.

The Rossoneri have been eager to land the youngster all summer as they attempt to shore up their defence following the departure of Adil Rami to Sevilla and the release of Daniele Bonera.

But Roma have thus far held on to their starlet as they want AC Milan to shell out their valuation of the player.

Finally, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side appear close to getting their target as Galliani was quoted as saying to fans that "It's [the transfer] 99.8 per cent done."

The Serbian has since moved to AC Milan as replacement for Filippo Inzaghi and has been eager to reunite with the defender.

The 20-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Roma first team, scoring a solitary goal in the process.
