Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement in principle with Lyon for the signature of forward Clinton Njie, it has been claimed in France.

The north London side have been actively seeking to sign the 21-year-old forward this summer and have already seen Lyon reject multiple offers for the Cameroonian international.

However, it seems that they have finally persuaded Lyon to sanction Njie’s sale as it has been claimed that Spurs have agreed a deal in principle with the Ligue 1 side.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Tottenham reached an agreement with Lyon on Monday for a transfer fee of around €14m plus €3m in bonus payments.

While they are yet to agree terms with the player, Njie is expected to arrive in England shortly to sit down with the club over a contract and could undergo a medical soon.

Arsenal were also linked with a move for the forward, but Tottenham are close to winning the north London battle for the signature of Njie.

Tottenham will be hoping that Njie will be able to provide proper support for Harry Kane in attack in Mauricio Pochettino’s team this season.

He has also been capped 11 times by the Cameroon and has scored six international goals.
