Inter Milan linked Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is attracting interest from AC Milan.

The 28-year-old midfielder was in and out of Brendan Rodgers’ team last season and made just 16 league starts.

While he has been involved in their pre-season preparations, Lucas was not named in the Liverpool squad that faced Stoke City last weekend and is widely reported to be surplus to requirements at Anfield.

Inter have been linked with a move for the midfielder since January, but are yet to make an approach for him and their rivals Milanese giants are now taking a closer look at the Brazilian.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are keen to add another midfielder to their squad this summer and are eyeing a move for the Liverpool midfielder.

Lucas’ agent is set to arrive in Milan tomorrow and is expected to meet the Rossoneri hierarchy to discuss a possible transfer for his client.

Liverpool are believed to be ready to offload the Brazilian this summer should a club place a suitable offer on their table.

Lucas has made 275 appearances for Liverpool since arriving from Gremio in 2007 and still has two years left on his contract with the Reds.
