Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of forward Clinton Njie from Lyon, subject to international clearance and a work permit.

Mauricio Pochettino's side recently agreed a fee of €14m plus a further €3m in bonus payments for the Cameroon international.

Njie had been strongly linked with Spurs' rivals Arsenal and even this morning there was speculation the Gunners were trying to hijack the deal.

But Spurs have pushed the capture of Njie over the line and the forward has put pen to paper on a contract running until the summer of 2020.

The 22-year-old is delighted with the switch and is now aiming to make his mark in the Premier League for the White Hart Lane outfit, dubbing what lies in front of him a "big challenge".

"I‘m very happy to join Tottenham, such a big club in England", he told his new club's official site.

"I’m still young, still growing up and it’s a big challenge – the Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world.

"The club is ambitious and I’m ready to give my best to help the club achieve its aims.

"Like I said, I’m still learning and I’m here to give my best. I just hope I get the chance to give (back) to the club what they are giving to me", Njie added.

The forward is set to have to wait to make his Spurs debut as he still needs to be granted a work permit by the relevant UK authorities.
