River Plate midfielder Matias Kranevitter has confirmed that Atletico Madrid are in talks with the Argentine club for his signature.

Kranevitter has been on Los Rojiblancos’ radar all through the summer, but he has proved to be elusive for the Spanish capital outfit thus far.

The midfielder played a decisive role in River Plate’s successful Copa Libertadores campaign as they defeated Tigres UANL of the Mexican Liga MX in the final to clinch their third continental trophy.

The 22-year-old’s performances have prompted the Argentine side to keep him at the club until December’s Club World Cup as they attempt to win the trophy.

However, Kranevitter has revealed that Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are indeed in talks with the Buenos Aires-based outfit for his signature, adding that having won all there is to win with River Plate, he wants to play for the Spanish club now.
