West Ham are interested in signing Eduardo Vargas on loan from Italian Serie A side Napoli.

Vargas has not been training with Napoli and has been declared surplus to requirements at the club this summer.

The Hammers want to bring in another forward and believe that the Chile international could fit the bill.

According to Italian daily Tuttosport, West Ham want to sign Vargas on loan for the forthcoming season and are prepared to put €1.5m on Napoli's plate for the privilege.

The 25-year-old spent last term on loan at another English club in the form of QPR, but was unable to help the Loftus Road outfit avoid relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham however believe Vargas could still do a job in the Premier League and are eyeing a move for the Chilean.

Napoli signed Vargas in 2012, but he has spent time out on loan at Gremio and Valencia, in addition to QPR, as he has failed to hammer down a spot with the Italian side.

Vargas has won 48 caps for Chile, scoring 22 goals.
