Ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash against Manchester United, Club Brugge manager Michel Preud'homme has said that his side will take inspiration from the smaller Premier League sides that often down their more illustrious rivals.

The Belgian outfit will take on the Red Devils tonight at Old Trafford before the action moves to the Jan Breydel Stadium the following week.

The Blauw-Zwart will start as underdogs against their illustrious rivals, but Preud'homme believes that there are ways to hurt the best of teams.

“When you start to analyse them, then you find their strengths, but also areas where you can hurt them”, he was quoted as saying by his club’s site at a pre-match press conference.

The former Belgium international praised the way the Red Devils are able to dictate the tempo of a game, however, he wants his team to take inspiration from the smaller English clubs that often topple the heavyweights.

“Manchester United can play at a slow pace and then accelerate suddenly. Once they see a solution, they can move very quickly.

“But you always have a chance, even though their chances are obviously bigger than ours.

“In England, you often see that small teams beat the top teams and so we must also try to grab our chance.

“We should not play differently because it is Manchester United.

“It is especially important that we play our own game”, he concluded.

Club Brugge will attempt to get an away goal tonight in order to have an advantage for the second leg to be played at their home ground.
