Besiktas sent their executive board member of foreign relations Erdel Torunogullari to meet with Mesut Ozil's representatives last week, it has been claimed.

The Turkish giants are dreaming of signing the Arsenal midfielder at some point in the future and are building the early foundations, even if a deal may not be for this summer and could take some years to materialise.

Former Besiktas board member Erol Kaynar explained to Turkish radio station Radyospor: "Mr Erdel met last week with representatives of Mesut Ozil.

"I think it was in order to speak about the conditions for a transfer. I heard Mr Erdel was in England for the transfer."

Kaynar does not believe Ozil is a realistic target for Besiktas in the current transfer window however, due to the fact he is still producing the goods for Arsenal at a high level.

"But I do not think this will be for the current transfer period due to Mesut's condition and performances."

However, while Besiktas may have to bide their time to take Ozil to Istanbul, Kaynar expects the loan signing of Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva to be wrapped up within the next two days.

"This transfer will be a loan", the former Black Eagles board member explained, speaking about Besiktas' swoop for the Brazilian.

"There's a great chance. I think this is true.

"In a day or two Besiktas could announce this transfer", he added.
