Former Lazio and Italy international striker Marco Di Vaio has urged his old club to do all they can to sign Mario Balotelli from Liverpool.

Di Vaio, who also counts Parma, Juventus, Valencia and Monaco amongst his former clubs, believes that if Lazio sign Balotelli they could land themselves a difference-maker who could tilt the scales in their favour.

The former striker also thinks that in signing Balotelli, Lazio would be doing Serie A as a whole a favour by adding an exciting talent to the league.

He told Italian daily Il Messaggero: "I'd take him."

Di Vaio added: "He would be fascinating to see once again in our league and in a Lazio shirt.

"He is a complete striker who can tilt the scales."

Balotelli was snapped up by Liverpool from AC Milan last summer for £16m, but has flopped badly at Anfield and was left out of the club's pre-season tour to Asia and Australia.

The Italian, who was at one time rated as one of the most promising strikers in world football, has been struggling to secure a move away from Liverpool, even being linked with Premier League new boys Watford.

Balotelli has been linked with several Italian clubs, but affording his wage demands has proven problematic.
