Leeds United striker Chris Wood says that he wants to become the new Mark Viduka at Elland Road.

Wood, who cost £3m for the Whites to sign from Leicester City earlier this summer, scored for Leeds last night in their 2-2 draw away at Bristol City, a game which saw the hosts score in the 89th and 95th minutes to leave Uwe Rosler's men reeling.

However, Wood was delighted to get on the scoresheet and wants to follow in the footsteps of Leeds' number 9s of years past, with a particular eye on Australian Viduka, who strutted his stuff for the club between 2000 and 2004.

"I'm at a club where the number 9 is embedded into the history", the New Zealand international told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I want to be another Mark Viduka. I want to follow in those footsteps", Wood continued.

"I wanted to get off the mark and get under way.

"I did my best here [at Bristol City] and worked hard for the team."

Leeds have now drawn all three of their opening three Championship games and will be desperate to record a win when they host Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road this coming Saturday.

Wood will be keen to add to his tally as he looks to justify the £3m fee lavished to sign him from the Foxes earlier this summer.
