Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hinted at a start for Bastian Schweinsteiger against Newcastle United tomorrow.

The Germany captain joined the Red Devils from Bayern Munich earlier in the summer amidst much fanfare, but the midfielder is yet to start a game for Van Gaal’s men.

In their first two league fixtures he was used in cameos towards the last quarter of the games and Schweinsteiger replaced Michael Carrick after the break against Club Brugge on Tuesday night in the Champions League.

However, Van Gaal revealed that the 31-year-old is closed to being completely fit and said that he could make his first start for Manchester United against Newcastle United tomorrow.

"It's only a matter of time before he starts, maybe it will happen tomorrow”, the Dutchman said in a press conference this morning.

Van Gaal also added that apart from Phil Jones, who is suffering from thrombosis, everyone else in his squad is fit and raring to go against Newcastle United.

However, the Dutchman stressed Marcos Rojo still needs to gain more match fitness to be in contention for selection.

"Only Jones, who is still ill [is out]. But he's getting better and has done some running."

Manchester United will be looking to maintain their wining start to the campaign when they welcome Steve McClaren’s Newcastle United to Old Trafford tomorrow.
