Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has refused to confirm or deny his club's interest in Southampton forward Sadio Mane.

After dropping their interest in Pedro Rodriguez, Manchester United have reportedly turned their attention towards securing the Senegalese forward from Southampton this summer.

While Southampton have denied receiving any bid for Mane, they have admitted that Manchester United are interested in their player.

However, Van Gaal remained coy on his interest in the Saints player and said that all the transfer business is being looked after by Ed Woodward, the club's executive vice-chairman.

When asked about his rumoured interest in the Senegalese international, the Dutchman said in a press conference: "I can't answer that.

Ronald Koeman has insisted that he won’t allow any of his players to leave the club in the last stretch of the transfer window and denied any bid from Manchester United regarding Mane.

The 23-year-old joined the south coast club from Red Bull Salzburg last summer for a fee of around £10m and scored 10 goals in 32 appearances for the Saints in his first season.

Mane is also a Senegalese international and has been capped 25 times by his country.
