Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal insists there is no rift with the club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, as speculation has swirled about the Red Devils missing out on Pedro Rodriguez to Chelsea and Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City.

Both Pedro and Otamendi were strongly linked with moves to Old Trafford, however each has ended up reinforcing Manchester United's Premier League rivals for the season ahead.

The clock is ticking on the transfer window as Van Gaal attempts to strengthen his defence and attack, while question marks continue to hang over the future of goalkeeper David de Gea.

But there is no issue with Woodward, Van Gaal insists, saying the executive vice-chairman regularly keeps him updated.

"I have no separation with Ed Woodward. I trust him as I get updates from him every day", Van Gaal told a press conference this morning.
