Celtic look set for disappointment over Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard, who is now is expected to continue his development at Real Madrid this season.

The Spanish giants snapped up at the highly sought-after young talent from Stromsgodset in January this year, but he has spent most of his time with the club’s B team, Real Madrid Castilla and has made only one senior appearance for the club.




There was speculation that Real Madrid were thinking about loaning the youngster out this summer and there were a number of clubs who were keen to take him on board.

His former Stromsgodset boss, Ronny Deila, was plotting to take him to Celtic this summer on loan, but it has been claimed that Odegaard is expected to continue at Real Madrid this season.
 


According to Spanish daily AS, Real Madrid want him to continue under the guidance of Zinedine Zidane in their B team this season and he has already been summoned to Real Madrid Castilla for their fixture against CD Ebro today.

At 16, Odegaard has already represented his national and has earned six caps for Norway.

He became the youngest ever player to play in a European Championship qualifier when he made his debut for Norway in August last year, when he was only 15.
