Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has stressed his desire to "stay involved" with the England national team as manager Roy Hodgson prepares to name his squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers on 30th August.

The Three Lions are set to play San Marino and Switzerland on 5th and 8th September, as they look to further consolidate their position at the top of Group E.

Carrick, who was granted a lease of new life at international level by the veteran manager when he was selected for the double header against Lithuania and Italy in March, insists that it would be nice for him to enjoy an extended run.

The Manchester United veteran had an injury plagued last season with the Red Devils, but has gradually returned back to action and now wants to continue playing well to warrant a place in Hodgson's national team.

With Jack Wilshere being out through an ankle injury, Carrick has a better chance to stake claim for a place in England's midfield for the forthcoming weeks.
