Everton defender John Stones has put in a transfer request in a bid to push through a move to Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho's Premier League champions have made at least two bids for Stones, which have been turned down, while a third £30m offer has been widely reported as also having gone in.

The Toffees have consistently stuck to their stance of not considering selling Stones, but the latest development in the saga may change their thinking.

According to the BBC, Stones has put in an official transfer request as he seeks to leave Goodison Park.

Everton paid just £3m to sign Stones from Barnsley in the winter transfer window in 2013 and would realise a big profit if they cashed in this summer.
