Manchester United starlet James Wilson has expressed his satisfaction at being called up to the England Under-21 squad for a double header against the USA and Norway next month.

Gareth Southgate's side are set to face the USA Under-23 side in a friendly on 3rd September followed by an Under-21 Championship qualifier against Norway Under-21s the following Monday.

Wilson, who is yet to play a single match for Manchester United's senior side this term, but was impressive for them during their pre-season campaign, believes that it will be a good opportunity for him to pit his wits at Under-21 level.

The main aim the youngster insists will be to secure a spot at senior level, but the need will be to take one step at a time. And Under-21 level is one such step that Wilson insists that he is willing to take.

"Playing for England's senior team is obviously the main goal", Wilson told his club's official website.

"But you have to take one little step at a time.

"I think the Under-21s will be good for me – a great experience and some valuable game time as well."

Wilson has managed a total of 14 Premier League appearances so far for the Red Devils, having scored three goals.
