Real Madrid midfielder and Marseille target Lucas Silva has also attracted the attentions of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Southampton, according to Madrid-based daily AS.

Silva was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium before joining Real Madrid, but he eventually landed at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this year from Brazilian club Cruzeiro.

The 22-year-old failed to make his mark under then manager Carlo Ancelotti and doesn’t feature prominently in new boss Rafael Benitez’s plans, especially after the acquisition of Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan in the ongoing transfer window.

Marseille have been keen on prising the midfielder away to the Stade Velodrome on a season-long loan before the transfer window shuts close.

And club manager Michel, who plied his trade for Real Madrid during his playing career, is minded to construct a team that can compete against Paris Saint-Germain in the French league. And he sees Silva as a valuable addition to his squad.

However, the Brazilian has attracted the attentions of prominent Premier League clubs for his signature.

Southampton see him as a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin, who has moved to Manchester United.

Chelsea and Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United have also expressed interest in the midfielder, but are deemed to be unlikely destinations for the Brazilian.

And Arsenal are rekindling their interest.
