Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino has rubbished rumours linking Nolito with a transfer to Barcelona, saying that his club have not received any offers from the Catalan outfit.

Nolito has been linked all summer with a move to the Camp Nou and has been touted as a replacement for Pedro Rodriguez, who has departed for Premier League club Chelsea.

The forward has had a three-year spell at the Camp Nou from 2008 until his departure for Benfica in 2011, and he also expressed an interest in returning to his old stomping ground.

However, Mourino has said that there is no truth to the reports linking the forward to Barcelona as Luis Enrique’s side have made no contact with his club.

"The issue of Nolito, which can be considered the drama of the summer in Vigo, never existed”, he was quoted as saying by Marca.

“Neither we, nor they [the players’ representatives] have received a call.

“Nolito is extremely quiet and thinking about Celta”, he concluded.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a spectacular campaign last term as he contributed 13 goals and as many assists to Celta Vigo’s cause from his 36 appearances.
