Liverpool target Asier Illarramendi has arrived in San Sebastian to undergo a medical with Real Sociedad this morning.

The 25-year-old international’s future has been a source of speculation since January, but it seems the saga is finally reaching its logical conclusion.




After being linked with a move to Liverpool all summer, the Spain international is set to move back to his old club of Real Sociedad and an official announcement of the transfer is expected this afternoon.

La Real have reached an agreement over a fee with Real Madrid and is set to sign their former player initially on loan this summer, with a mandatory purchase option.
 


Illarramendi has also given his nod to a move back to the Anoeta and according to Spanish daily AS, he has arrived in San Sebastian to undergo a medical with Sociedad.

The midfielder has been struggling for minutes at Real Madrid and has been linked with a departure from Bernabeu for months, but he was believed to be keen to fight for his place in the team.

However, with the 2016 European Championship on the horizon, the 25-year-old is keen to play more football this season.

AC Milan made a late enquiry for him last night, but by that time Illarramendi’s heart was set on a move back to the Anoeta.
