Rennes have stepped up on their interest for Bastia winger Floyd Ayite amid fierce competition from Trabzonspor and Mainz.

The 26-year-old is hot property in the current transfer window and has also been on the radar at English Championship side Leeds United.

As the end of the window draws closer, the race for Ayite's signature is hotting up.

Especially worried about competition from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor and German side Mainz, Rennes have made an official offer for the winger, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

The Breton club's bid for the Togo international is a loan offer, with an option to purchase at the end of the season if Ayite impresses.

Ayite only joined Bastia last season from Reims and helped the club to a finish of 12th in Ligue 1 in his debut campaign.

But the 26-year-old may be quickly on the move as he counts at least four clubs as keen on securing his services this summer.
