Daryl Janmaat feels he doesn’t fit into the plans of new Netherlands coach Danny Blind, but is ready to fight to earn his place back in the national team squad.

The 26-year-old has been one of the regular features in the Dutch national team in recent times and while he lost his place in the squad last year, he fought his way back in the last days of Guus Hiddink’s reign as coach.

However, Blind’s appointment as the Dutch national team boss has spelled doom for Janmaat and he has not even found himself in the 31-man squad for next month’s international fixtures.

The full-back feels his exclusion from the squad is because he doesn’t fit into the new coach’s vision and philosophy.

“Time flies”, Janmaat told Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

“There is a new coach with a new vision and has his own preferences. Apparently I am not one of them.”

Janmaat has fought back into the team in the past and the defender is ready to do the same this time around.

He added that he is looking to continue to build on an impressive first season at Newcastle and stressed that he is completely focused on doing well for the Magpies.

“I will now have to do it again.

“Newcastle United have my complete focus. I had a good last season and was their ‘Player of the Year'.

“I will have to maintain that level.”
