Wesley Sneijder’s agent has revealed that his client will only sign a new contract with Galatasaray after discussing the club’s future ambitions.

The 31-year-old Dutch international midfielder has been widely linked with a move to Manchester United over the last few years, but a deal has never seen the light of the day.

While the trail has gone cold in recent times, murmurs of Manchester United’s interest in the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan man often come to the surface when his name is up for discussion during the transfer window.

And his agent has been talking about his client’s future at Galatasaray after it has emerged that the club are keen to offer him a new contract.

Guido Albers, his agent, has said that he is going to sit down with Galatasaray’s officials in the next few days and revealed that a new contract has been offered to his client.

Speaking to NTVspor, the agent said: “In the coming weeks we will listen to what the club have to say.

“They have proposed a new two-year contract with an option for a third year.”

Albers revealed that Sneijder is keen to listen to the club’s plans for the future and stressed that though the midfielder is happy at Galatasaray, he wants to play for a team which will be challenging for top honours.

“At the moment, nothing is final. Wesley is and remains an ambitious player and thinks that the plans of the club are most important.

“Wesley is happy at the club and everyone knows too well that he loves the club and the city [Istanbul] but he only wants to play for an ambitious team.

“If he sees no future, he won’t sign.”
