Former Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva has been impressed with the talent of his Lyon team-mate Nabil Fekir.

The Brazilian full-back ended his long association with Manchester United and joined last season’s Ligue 1 runners-up Lyon earlier in the summer.

The 25-year-old has slotted into Hubert Fournier’s starting eleven and has been impressed with his new team-mates at the Stade Gerland.

While he is pleased to see the overall quality of the Lyon team, forward Fekir has caught the attention of the former Manchester United man.

The Frenchman, who recently signed a new contract with Lyon, has impressed Rafael and the Brazilian admits that there were already murmurs about Fekir’s qualify when he was in England.

The Lyon new boy was quoted as saying by Maxifoot: “I like a lot of players in the team but Fekir…Phew, he is a beast!

“We were already speaking about him in England but I am very impressed [after watching him].”

Arsenal have a long term interest in the French forward but Fekir stated earlier in the summer that he wants to continue his development at Lyon.

The new five-year contract also allowed Lyon to breathe a sigh of relief as it has strengthened their bargaining position in any negotiations for the 22-year-old.
