Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has extended his contract with the Bavarian giants until the summer of 2019.

Thiago has been at the Allianz Arena since the summer of 2013 when he chose to sign for the reigning Bundesliga champions from European champions Barcelona.

The midfielder has endured an injury-marred two seasons with Bayern Munich and in his two seasons in the German league, he has made a total of 41 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net on five occasions and assisting his team-mates with six goals.

The Spain international’s new contract will see him in Bavaria until 2019.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has expressed his delight at tying the highly-regarded midfielder to a new contract, terming him an important player.
