Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that playmaker Christian Eriksen will miss this weekend's game against Everton with a knee injury, while winger Andros Townsend may be available.

The Danish midfielder, who was in superb form for the Lilyhwites last season and also started the 2015/16 season with a spark, having provided an assist for his team-mate Eric Dier's first goal against Stoke City, missed last week's 1-1 draw against Leicester City due to the injury.

“Christian Eriksen is still out and we need to assess some players”, Pochettino told reporters after the club's training session, via their official site.

There is at least positive news as far as the other injury absentee Townsend is concerned however.

The former Southampton manager confirmed that the winger has rejoined the squad in the training after his shoulder and ankle problem forced him to miss a large part of pre-season as well as the opening three fixtures of the new term.

Pochettino also insisted that there is no major issue with his squad beyond Townsend and Eriksen.

“Andros Townsend is in the group again and may be available to be in the squad, but after that there are no big issues or problems.”

The Lilywhites will aim for their first win of the season when they host the Toffees at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
