Leeds United boss Uwe Rosler has confirmed his club's interest in signing striker Fernando Forestieri from Watford, but insists that he cannot comment on reports the player is reluctant to make the move.

The Elland Road-based outfit agreed a fee of between £3m and £4m for the 25-year-old last week and were eager to finalise the deal before Saturday's game against Derby County.

However, the forward himself has stalled the move with a number of clubs, including Leeds' rivals Sheffield Wednesday, reportedly showing interest.

The Owls had initially looked to take the 25-year-old on a season-long loan deal, but saw their bid rejected by the newly promoted Premier League side as they want to sell the player.

It is now being reported that Sheffield Wednesday have now placed a £3m bid of their own while fellow Championship side Reading also remain in the hunt to secure the signature of Forestieri.

While at a press conference today, the Leeds United manager insisted: "I don't know where we are with Forestieri. I know there was a general interest, I think everybody knew that our club have been interested.

“Where we are now, today, Thursday afternoon, I can't tell you. I have not spoken to the player.

“I can't tell you if the player is willing to come to the north west. I can't tell you."
