Giuseppe Bellusci would be happy to leave Leeds United to return to Italy this summer, but head coach Uwe Rosler is blocking his departure, it has been claimed.

The centre-back has strong interest from both Atalanta and Bologna in his homeland and the duo are eyeing a move to take him back to Serie A.

And Bellusci is ready to leave Elland Road for the Italian top flight, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

However, Rosler is standing in the defender's path at present.

Rosler considers Bellusci a key man in his defensive plans and is only prepared to allow him to leave if he can secure a replacement before the transfer window closes.

Rosler stopped short of saying he is desperate to keep Bellusci at a press conference yesterday, but said that no players are on the verge of leaving.

Bellusci has become a controversial figure at Leeds after being part of an infamous group of players who withdrew from a matchday squad at the last minute last season, while he has also taken swipes at the club's fans on social networks.
