Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that he might consider a contract extension offer from the club.

The former Ajax and Bayern Munich boss took over the reins at Old Trafford last summer and guided the club back into the Champions League last season.

The Dutchman’s contract with the club expires at the end of the 2016/17 season and he has said in the past the he will retire from management at the end of his tenure because of a promise to his wife.

However, Van Gaal could break the promise and said that if Manchester United want to keep him at the club for a longer period of time he would consider their offer.

While extending his contract at Old Trafford is a possibility, he did add that Manchester United is his last job in football management.

“I can always still extend in Manchester”, Van Gaal told RTL4.

“If they want to keep me longer, then it is worth considering."

When asked whether he will consider offers from other clubs after his Manchester United stint: “No, I will quit.”

With Champions League football guaranteed this season, Van Gaal will want his side to provide a stiff challenge for the league and he has said that he wants to win the Premier League with Manchester United before he draws the curtains on his career.
