Liverpool youngster Joe Maguire has joined League Two side Leyton Orient on an initial one-month loan deal.

The move is expected to help the 19-year-old gather much needed first-team playing experience before he returns to Anfield to pit his wits against his Under-21 team-mates.

The youngster, a regular with the Reds' Under-21 side, has managed a total of 31 appearances for Michael Beale's side so far, which has been complimented by seven UEFA Youth League matches as well.

Maguire though is yet to make his competitive debut for Brendan Rodgers' side, in spite of having been included in the squad for their summer tour of Thailand, Australia and Malaysia.

Speaking about the deal, Leyton Orient manager Ian Hendon revealed that he has a very good relationship with Liverpool academy director Alex Inglethorpe and had heard a lot of good things about Maguire.

And now with the deal having been finalised, Hendon will hope to see the Liverpool starlet make the most of his opportunities for the League Two side.

“I know Alex Inglethorpe very well and we have seen him on a few occasions and heard a lot of good things about him”, Hendon told his club's official website.

“It is a good opportunity for Joe to come and sample what League Two football is all about. We have heard a lot of good things about him and we are happy to bring him in and bolster our squad.

“He can play anywhere down the left hand side, but is predominantly a left back. He is coming here to fight for a place and he is up for the challenge so that shows what type of character he is.”
