Celtic manager Ronny Deila is delighted to have secured Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett on a season-long loan deal.

Blackett, who saw his first team chances limited at Old Trafford, has become Deila's sixth signing of the summer and the 21-year-old was presented to Celtic's fans at half time during their 3-1 Scottish Premiership win over St Johnstone today.

The move further adds to speculation that Celtic could be set to sell Virgil van Dijk before the transfer window closes, as Blackett can operate at centre-back.

Deila told his club's site: "Tyler will bring quality. He’s a good player, a young player and has experience playing for Manchester United. He really wanted to come and play for Celtic and he’ll be a good signing.

"He can play centre back and left-back so we’ll see what his best position will be in September", the Norwegian tactician added.
