Jordan Botaka admits that the decision to leave Excelsior to head to Leeds United was not a difficult one to make and he is excited about playing his football in England.

Leeds switched their attention to Botaka late last week after being priced out of a move for NEC Nijmegen winger Anthony Limbombe, their first choice target in the Netherlands; the Yorkshire side had a €2m bid for Limbombe knocked back.

A deal is in place to take Botaka to England, with the winger now travelling to the UK to open negotiations with Leeds and agree personal terms, ahead of putting pen to paper on a contract with the Championship club.

"I'm going to Leeds to arrange the final details", he was quoted as saying by Voetbal International.

"It was a difficult decision, although actually not so much", he added.

"I have been having a fantastic time here at Excelsior and I'm grateful to the club that I got my chance here – but it's a dream to play in England.

"The last days went by so fast. The interest was there for some time. I knew about it, but it was never really concrete, until last Thursday.

"It was suddenly a madhouse with many phone calls, emailing my agent and consulting with my family", Botaka said.

And the winger outlined the way he expects the next week to go, detailing a hectic schedule which he will embark upon before he even kicks his first ball as a Leeds player.

"Tomorrow morning I will visit Excelsior, later on Sunday I will fly to Leeds, then I fly to Congo, then on Friday we play in an African Nations Cup qualifying match, then I will return to the Netherlands to arrange the final details and then I will sign for Leeds to begin the adventure."

Botaka is set to be one of two new arrivals at Elland Road before the transfer window slams shut for Leeds on Tuesday evening.
