Jorge Mendes is set to take charge of negotiations for David de Gea’s transfer to Real Madrid and is hoping to convince Manchester United to lower their demands.

Speculation surrounding De Gea’s future at Manchester United has been one of the recurring themes of the summer transfer window and it is yet to be resolved.

Real Madrid are expecting to make one final attempt to take De Gea to the Spanish capital before the transfer window in Spain shuts down on Monday.

However, the club are not ready to meet Manchester United’s asking price of €40m and it is up to Mendes, De Gea’s agent, to find a breakthrough in negotiations at this late stage of the window.

Mendes is expected to land in Manchester soon and according to Catalan daily Sport, he will look to take charge of negotiations between the clubs to solve the current impasse.
