Marseille have entered the race for West Ham linked striker Simone Zaza and are hoping to take him on loan from Juventus.

West Ham were pushing hard to sign Zaza on a loan deal earlier this week, but their move stumbled and the Hammers have now been linked with other targets, including AC Milan's Alessandro Matri and Galatasaray's Burak Yilmaz.

Marseille though, in the course of talking to Juventus about young midfielder Mario Lemina moving to Turin, have asked about Zaza, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

The French giants want to take Zaza on loan and cleared their move with new coach Michel before starting talks with Juventus.

Zaza has been concerned about the amount of first team football he may receive at Juventus this season following the club's signing of Paulo Dybala from Palermo and Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid.

It is unclear whether Juventus are willing to loan Zaza to Marseille, but the French club may have an ace card as the Italians want Lemina.

The clock is ticking on the transfer window however, which closes for European clubs on Monday.
