Fernando Forestieri has announced his move from Watford to Sheffield Wednesday and thanked Hornets fans for their support during his time at Vicarage Road.

Watford recently accepted a bid from Leeds United for the forward, but Forestieri was not keen on moving to Elland Road and Whites owner Massimo Cellino eventually called off the chase on Friday.

Forestieri has though been enthusiastic about joining Sheffield Wednesday and was at the club's 3-1 defeat against Middlesbrough at Hillsborough earlier today.

Now the Italian has announced the switch, posting a photograph of himself with a Sheffield Wednesday shirt on Twitter and thanking Watford fans for their support.

Forestieri wrote: "Thanks to all the Watford fans, players & staff for all your support over the 3 years & for making my time here unforgettable!!
