Giaccherini has fallen out of favour at the Stadium of Light under Dick Advocaat, despite boasting an impressive pedigree in having played regularly for Juventus before arriving at Sunderland and being an Italy international.

The former Cesena player will now look to clock up regular first team football in Serie A with Bologna.
