Inter are in talks with Liverpool to sign Fabio Borini, according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia.

Borini is out of favour at Anfield and has been tipped for a move all summer long. But if the forward is to leave Liverpool, it is set to be in a mad scramble before the transfer window slams shut.

Inter have only until Monday to do the deal, as the Italian transfer window closes one day before England's, which slams shut on Tuesday.

The Nerazzurri are now locked in talks with Liverpool as they aim to place Borini at coach Roberto Mancini's disposal.

Liverpool are reported to want €8m for Borini, which Inter have not yet hit, with suggestions their current offer of €6m plus €2m in potential bonus payments.

Even accepting €8m (£5.8m) would see Liverpool take a big loss on a player they signed for around £10m in 2012.

Borini has struggled to establish himself at Anfield and was loaned out to Sunderland for the 2013/14 campaign, though he rejected a permanent switch to the Stadium of Light last summer.
