Turkish giants Fenerbahce have officially confirmed the arrival of winger Lazar Markovic on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

The Serbian arrived in Istanbul yesterday to put the finishing touches to his move to the Yellow Canaries and Fenerbahce have now announced his signing.

Fenerbahce announced in a statement on their official site: "Our club have loaned Serbian winger Lazar Markovic on a one-year deal with Liverpool.

"We welcome our new transfer Lazar Markovic to the Fenerbahce family. We hope for a season full of success."

Fenerbahce have not announced an option to buy Markovic on a permanent basis, paving the way for the winger to continue his career at Liverpool next summer.

Liverpool splashed out £20m to sign Markovic from Portuguese giants Benfica last summer, but he struggled to nail down a regular starting spot in the side at Anfield.

The Serbian will be aiming to play regular first team football during his loan spell in Turkey and progress as a player ahead of a potential return to Merseyside.

He links up with former Manchester United pair Nani and Robin van Persie at Fenerbahce.
