Marc Overmars, director of football at Ajax, has insisted that Manchester United are not in contact with the club for goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

David de Gea’s future at Manchester United remains a doubt as Real Madrid could make a final attempt to take him to Spain by the end of the day.

With transfer window winding down rapidly, there is a suggestion that De Gea could remain at Old Trafford for another season, but speculation surrounding his possible exit is refusing to die down.

Manchester United are expected to make a move for a new number one should De Gea leave today and it has been rumoured that they have lined up a bid for Ajax’s first choice goalkeeper Cillessen.

However, the Dutch giants squashed the rumours and said that Manchester United have not contacted them about the Netherlands number one.
