Louis van Gaal has remained coy on David de Gea’s future at Manchester United ahead of European deadline day.

De Gea’s future at Manchester United has been the soap opera of the summer transfer window and with less than 24 hours for the window to close in Spain, he still remains out of Real Madrid’s clutches.

The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper wants to return to the Spanish capital and is wanted at Real Madrid, but Manchester United have made it clear that deal will only happen on their terms.

And the Spanish giants have so far refused to match Manchester United’s €40m valuation for the goalkeeper, who has only a year left on his contract with the club.

While there are just a few hours left in the window, Van Gaal is yet to make any decisive statement on De Gea and is still remaining coy on the question of his goalkeeper’s future.

"As a manager we have divided our tasks and the task is for [Manchester United executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward and not for me."

De Gea has not featured for Manchester United this season and Van Gaal has said that the situation will be reconsidered after the transfer window closes.
