Barcelona are closing in on the purchase of Almeria forward Dani Romera, according to Almeria-based daily La Voz de Almeria.

The Catalan giants started negotiations for the forward, who will slot into their B side, in June this year which later died down before they restarted their pursuit in August.

The transfer is expected to be completed later today, it has been claimed.

The striker made 41 appearances for Almeria B last season in the third division of the Spanish league and contributed 15 goals to their cause.

The 20-year-old was keen on staying put at Almeria and progressing through the ranks to their first team, but he has been tempted by the offer from the reigning European and Spanish champions.

The Blaugrana are currently under a FIFA-imposed two-transfer window ban that prevents the club from registering new players, meaning that Romera will not be able to play until January – when the ban is lifted – if he signs for the club.

Barcelona B were relegated to the third division last term and the proposed signing of Romera would only be their second signing after Jokin Ezkieta this summer.

If Romera’s acquisition goes through Barcelona B manager Gerard Lopez will have another option up front apart from Jean Marie Dongou.
