Nantes defender Papy Djilobodji is undergoing medical ahead of his move to Chelsea, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

Chelsea have been keen on the acquisition of a defender and their repeated attempts to sign Everton starlet John Stones have met with stiff resistance from the Goodison Park club, who have shown no inclination to sell the player.

The Blues have thus shifted their attention to the Nantes defender and are on the verge of signing him for a fee reported to be worth €3m.

Djilobodji has been with the French club for the past five years and has gone on to make 183 appearances for them across all competitions, netting nine goals in the process.
