The French Football Federation has confirmed that striker Anthony Martial has been allowed to leave the national team's training camp to sign a contract with Manchester United today.

The Red Devils have moved quickly to snap up Martial from Monaco, with talk of a €50m bid for the striker having been lodged last night.

It was claimed earlier today though that Monaco had knocked back a €55m offer from Manchester United for Martial, but now it appears a deal has been agreed between the two clubs.

The French Football Federation said in a statement: "Anthony Martial arrived at 11:00 for the gathering of the France team at Clairefontaine.

"He requested [coach] Didier Deschamps give him permission to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United", the statement continued.

"Given the exceptional circumstances, the coach granted the player's request.

"Anthony Martial left Clairefontaine on Monday at 12:00. He will return on Tuesday morning."

Manchester United have been desperate to sign a striker following the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie this summer, while Javier Hernandez is set to join Bayer Leverkusen.

Martial had also been linked with Barcelona, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but is now heading to Old Trafford.
