Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer feels that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is not getting as much stick as his predecessor David Moyes would have got had he overseen the Red Devils' recent transfer dealings.

Moyes was harshly criticised for his transfer dealings after having missed out on top targets like Cesc Fabregas, Daniele De Rossi, Luka Modric and Sami Khedira, signing just Marouane Fellaini in his only summer in charge. He was eventually sacked after just nine months at the helm at Old Trafford.

Moyes' successor has also been criticised of late for having missed out on deals for players like Pedro Rodriguez and Nicolas Otamendi, while today he has parted with David de Gea, Anders Lindegaard, Adnan Januzaj and Javier Hernandez.

Shearer on his part has taken to Twitter to give his opinion about the situation, criticising Van Gaal's recent transfer activities this summer.

"I wonder what reaction David Moyes would have got if he had been over-seeing Man United's recent transfer dealings?" Shearer wrote on Twitter.

And with striker Robin van Persie having already left and Hernandez departing, Manchester United's problems are set to increase if they do not find a replacement soon.

The imminent addition of Monaco striker Anthony Martial is set to give them at least a little boost on that front though.
