Barcelona forward and Manchester United linked Neymar is likely to be given a new and improved contract by the Catalan club next year, according to Catalan daily Sport.

Neymar has been at the Camp Nou since his arrival from Santos in 2013 and has gone on to become an indispensable presence in the Barcelona first team.

Last term he was in irrepressible form and contributed 39 goals as well as 11 assists to help the Catalans to a treble of the league title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

Earlier this summer, he was linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United; however, nothing has come out of it so far.

Rossell is no longer at Barcelona, but his former deputy, Josep Maria Bartomeu, who is now presiding over the club, is expected to carry forward the promise made by his former boss and reward the Brazilian with a new contract that will see a significant hike in his wages.

The 23-year-old is expected to be handed a five-year deal worth €8.8m per annum in salary.

Neymar has expressed his desire to stay with Barcelona for many years to come.
