Marseille are in the process of finalising Erik Lamela's loan move to the club from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia.

The Ligue 1 giants launched a raid for Lamela earlier today and were encouraged when the player indicated he would be open to the move.

Marseille are now speeding to complete their swoop for Lamela, who has just accepted the conditions of the move to the Stade Velodrome.

Unlike in England, France's transfer window closes tonight, meaning Marseille are under pressure to get the deal over the line.

No further details on the loan are known, especially whether Marseille will hold a purchase option on Lamela, or whether they will shoulder his full wage packet.

Spurs signed Lamela from Roma in 2013, but the Argentina winger has struggled to hit the heights expected at White Hart Lane.

Now it appears Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is willing to make do without the Argentine winger for the season, although it remains to be seen if the manager will look to replace Lamela before the English window slams shut.

Lamela will be aiming to play regular first team football at the Stade Velodrome as he looks to hit top form in Ligue 1.
