Marseille are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur for the acquisition of winger Erik Lamela, according to Sky Italia.

Lamela has been at White Hart Lane since the summer of 2013 when he landed from Italian giants Roma, but he has failed to make the desired impact at the Premier League club over the course of his two years.

He has been linked with a move back to Serie A, with Inter Milan reported to be keen on his signature.

However, Marseille have emerged as leading candidates to sign the Argentine before the ongoing transfer window closes.

The French Ligue 1 club appointed Michel as manager following the departure of Marcelo Bielsa soon after the start of the 2015/16 league campaign.
