Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have officially announced the signing of Ismail Azzaoui from Tottenham Hotspur, just days after the club's sporting director Klaus Allofs admitted the Belgian was on their radar.

Azzaoui was impressive for Spurs in their youth ranks last season, but has now chosen to leave White Hart Lane to continue his career at the Volkswagen Arena.

The 17-year-old forward has been handed the number 38 shirt by Wolfsburg, who have not released any further details on the transfer.

Allofs said to his club's official site: "We have been following his development closely for some time.

"He is a young player who has potential in the medium term to go into the professional ranks", he added.

Azzaoui moved to Spurs last summer and prior to his switch to England spent time in Anderlecht's youth academy.

The midfielder-cum-forward scored six goals in six games for Spurs in their FA Youth Cup run, including a hat-trick against Blackburn Rovers.

He has also featured for the north London club at Under-21 Premier League level, but is now set to sample life in Germany with Wolfsburg.
